Safe Use of Photographs
Photography at Corringham CE Primary School
A Guide for Parents and Carers
We love celebrating children’s achievements and sharing special moments from school life. To keep all children safe and respect everyone’s privacy, we have clear rules about photography and video at school.
Taking Photos in School
Only school staff routinely take photographs and videos during the school day.
These images are used for learning, assessment, classroom displays and school-approved platforms.
Staff use school equipment and store images securely.
Parental Consent
When your child joins the school, you are asked whether you consent to school photographs of your child.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by contacting the Headteacher.
We always respect your wishes.
Photography at School Events
Parents and carers may take photos or videos at certain events, if prior agreement is given by the head teacher.
School performances and productions
Sports Day
Celebration assemblies
Year 6 Leavers’ events
We will remind everyone of expectations at the start of each event.
Important Rules for Parents and Carers
If you take photos or videos at a school event:
They are for personal family use only
They must be kept secure
They must not be shared publicly
They must not be posted on social media or the internet
This includes Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp groups, YouTube and similar platforms.
Please remember that other families may not have given permission for their child to appear online.
Where Photography Is Not Allowed
Photos and videos must not be taken in classrooms or around the school site unless permission has been given.
Parents helping on school trips must not take photos of pupils.
Cameras must not be used on school premises outside designated events.
What Happens If the Rules Are Not Followed?
Permission to take photographs at future events may be withdrawn.
In serious cases, the matter may be escalated in line with safeguarding procedures.
